Someone once said to me, "You would be pretty if you lost some weight."

This is a common sentiment in our society. We constantly hear unsolicited remarks: "You need to hit the gym, asap!" or "You look like a skeleton." Sometimes it’s "You are way too short," or conversely, "You look like a giant." Perhaps you’ve even heard, "You have gotten tanner recently."

These are just a few examples of the nonsense people feel entitled to say. In our society—especially here in Pakistan—people are prone to making these kinds of comments sooner or later. Our bodies are not subjects for public critique, yet a lack of manners, basic thoughtfulness, and education leads many to believe they can comment on our appearances without consequence.

Yet i believe that it is time to address this issue heads-on.This is our body that is certainly not open for people to debate and comment on. It is time that we reclaim ownership of our bodies and refuse to tolerate unsolicited commentary from others.

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF BODY SHAMING;

Causes severe psychological harm that leads to suicide in severe cases.

Triggers social anxiety.

Depression and stress.

Eating disorders.

Health problems.

Main cause for body shaming;

People usually prone to body shame to hide their own insecurities and take out the frustration by judging people.

AT THE END OF THE DAY OUR WORTH CANNOT BE WEIGHED!IT IS TIME TO DISMANTLE THIS TOXICITY TO LIVE LIFE AS ONE PLEASES.

THANK YOU!
