ICT Project Name: Mindful Teens PH

Project Tagline: Mental Wellness Starts With You — Because Your Mind Matters, Your

Feelings Count.

Introduction

Mental health was once considered a topic that people only discussed privately. Today, however, it has become one of the most important conversations of our generation. Around the world, there has been a growing shift in how people view well-being. Instead of focusing only on physical health, more attention is now being given to emotional and psychological wellness. For Filipino youth, this issue is especially relevant. Filipinos are often known for their resilience and for “smiling through the pain.” However, behind this strength, many young people silently struggle with different pressures in their daily lives. Academic expectations, family responsibilities, social relationships, and the influence of social media can all contribute to stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges among teenagers. In today’s digital age, these pressures are often intensified by constant online interaction. Social media platforms sometimes create unrealistic standards where teenagers compare themselves to the “perfect lives” they see online. As a result, many young people feel overwhelmed, isolated, or afraid to talk about their struggles. Because of this growing concern, there is a clear need for a supportive space where teenagers can learn about mental health and feel understood. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become one of the most powerful tools for reaching young people. Teenagers spend a large portion of their time online using platforms such as social media, websites, and digital communities. Because of this, ICT allows information to be shared quickly, creatively, and interactively. These technologies make it possible to spread awareness, provide helpful resources, and encourage positive conversations about mental health.

The project Mindful Teens PH was created to promote awareness and understanding of mental wellness among Filipino teenagers. The term “mindful” emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, emotional balance, and responsible decision-making, while PH highlights that the advocacy focuses on Filipino youth. Through digital platforms, educational content, and interactive activities, this advocacy aims to help teenagers better understand their emotions, practice healthy coping strategies, and support one another. Ultimately, Mindful Teens PH hopes to create a positive online environment where Filipino teenagers feel empowered, informed, and supported in taking care of their mental well-being.

Goal

The Mindful Teens PH project aims to promote mental wellness among Filipino teenagers through the effective use of digital platforms and information and communication technology. Specifically, the project aims to:

● Raise awareness about mental health among teenagers by providing accurate,

accessible, and youth-friendly information through digital platforms.

● Encourage mindfulness and self-care practices by sharing helpful resources, activities, and coping strategies that support emotional well-being.

● Create a safe and supportive digital space where teenagers can learn about mental health, express their feelings, and understand that they are not alone in their struggles.

● Reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues by promoting open conversations and educating young people about the importance of emotional

well-being.

● Utilize ICT tools and social media platforms to reach a wider audience of

Filipino teenagers and spread positive messages about mental health awareness.

● Empower teenagers to support one another by encouraging empathy, kindness, and peer support within the online community.

Purpose

Mindful Teens PH is a Mental Health Awareness Project designed to help teenagers

better understand their emotions and mental well-being. The project aims to provide accurate, reliable, and easy-to-understand information about mental health through digital platforms.

Many teenagers experience stress, anxiety, and emotional struggles but may not always know how to cope with them. Through this project, the proponents aim to guide young people in recognizing their feelings, managing stress in healthy ways, and understanding the importance of seeking help when needed.

Using ICT platforms such as Facebook and Google Sites, the project will share

educational posts, self-care tips, and supportive messages that encourage teenagers to take care of their mental health. By making information accessible online, the project hopes to empower teens with knowledge and confidence to speak about their feelings and seek support when necessary. Ultimately, the purpose of Mindful Teens PH is to promote awareness, reduce

stigma, and create a positive online space where teenagers feel safe, valued, and understood.

Project Description

Who is Mindful Teens PH target audience?

The primary target audience of Mindful Teens PH is teenagers, particularly Junior High

school and Senior High school students. During adolescence, many young people experience

academic pressure, social challenges, emotional changes, and the influence of social media.

Because teenagers spend a significant amount of time online, this advocacy focuses on reaching them through digital platforms where they are most active. By providing educational and supportive content through ICT, the project aims to guide teenagers toward healthier emotional habits while also encouraging positive offline practices such as self-reflection, communication, and self-care.

Mindful Teens PH: Project Phases

Phase 1: TEEN MENTAL HEALTH PAGE LAUNCH

The project will begin with the creation of a Facebook page dedicated to teen mental wellness under the title Mindful Teens PH. The page will introduce the advocacy’s mission, objectives, and goals while sharing introductory posts about common mental health challenges among teenagers such as stress, anxiety, and academic pressure. The page will also feature a customized profile picture, cover photo, and visual identity using calm and positive colors to create a welcoming online environment.

Phase 2: TEEN-FRIENDLY DIGITAL ADVOCACY POSTERS

The project will design advocacy posters that discuss topics such as self-care, emotional awareness, stress management, and seeking help. These posters will use simple language, relatable messages, and engaging visual designs suitable for teenagers.

The materials will be distributed in two formats:

• Digital posters shared on social media platforms

• Printed posters posted on school bulletin boards This approach ensures that both online and offline audiences can access the information.

Phase 3: MENTAL WELLNESS INFORMATION WEBSITE

The proponents will create a Google Sites website that will serve as the project's main information hub. The website will include:

• Basic mental health information for teenagers

• Simple coping strategies such as breathing exercises and journaling

• Educational articles about stress management and emotional well-being

• Links to trusted mental health hotlines and support organizations

The website will be designed to be mobile-friendly, making it easy for students to access anytime.

Phase 4: INTERACTIVE TEEN WELLNESS POSTS

To keep teenagers actively engaged, the Facebook page will regularly post

interactive content such as:

• Mental health trivia

• Daily check-in questions (e.g., “How are you feeling today?”)

• Polls and reflection questions

• Short motivational messages

These interactive posts encourage teenagers to reflect on their emotions and remind them that they are not alone in their experiences. The comment section will also allow students to express support and positive encouragement toward one another.

Phase 5: ADVOCACY VIDEO AND APPRECIATION POSTS

The final phase of the project includes the creation of a short advocacy video highlighting real-life situations faced by teenagers and the importance of taking care of mental health. The video will deliver positive messages that encourage students to seek help, practice self-care, and support their peers. The advocacy video will be shared through the project’s Facebook page and other digital platforms to maximize reach. Once certain milestones are achieved, such as reaching a number of views, shares, or participants, the proponents will publish “ThankYou” posts to acknowledge students, teachers, and supporters who helped spread awareness and support the advocacy.

Support

The proponents of Mindful Teens PH: Mental Wellness Starts With You will work together

to promote mental health awareness among teenagers. The project encourages students,

teachers, and members of the community to support the advocacy by participating in awareness activities and sharing educational materials.
